Welcome to Half Marathon Guide, your go-to resource for everything running. Whether you’re gearing up for your very first half-marathon or you’re a seasoned runner chasing a new PB or new views, we’re here to support you with expert advice, curated training plans, and insider tips straight from the running community.
And we’re not just here for the 13.1-mile goals — despite the name, Half Marathon Guide offers a race directory and training advice for 5ks, 10ks, half-marathons, and marathons alike.
Started in 2006 by Atlanta-based journalist Terrell Johnson, HalfMarathons.net was one of the first online directories for races. The site was on a mission to create the most comprehensive online resource for runners to discover local and exciting half marathons across the United States.
Today, the race database has grown to encompass thousands of races across not just the Unites States, but around the world.
Over the years, HMG has grown to not only offer a comprehensive database of races, but we also provide free training plans to get you race ready and advice to keep you moving as obstacles pop up along your training journey.
Today, HMG is operated by an Austin-based, always-injured runner Michael Mazzara and a team of writers, editors, and gear testers. Our team is made up of dedicated runners and coaches who pull from not just their personal experience on the road (or trail or track), but also the knowledge of their local running communities. This team knows firsthand the challenges that can come with training for a half marathon — and the joy of crossing the finish line — and we aim to share the lessons with you.
At Half Marathon Guides, we believe in the power of running to transform lives — mentally, physically, and emotionally. Our mission is to prepare runners of all levels with the tools, motivation, and knowledge they need to cross the finish line feeling stronger and more confident than ever. That’s why we offer a massive library of free resources, including training plans designed for every fitness level, goal, and training period; real world-tested reviews of the latest running shoes and apparel on the market; race recommendations for every season or goal; and expert-backed advice on how to prep for a race while minimizing running injuries.
Since its inception, Half Marathon Guide has helped millions of runners cross the finish line of races big and small. Whether you’re running for fitness, fun, or a new PB, Half Marathon Guide is here to help you start on the lifelong journey of being a runner.
Half Marathon Guide is the largest calendar and educational resource in the world for half marathon runners and enthusiasts with over 10,000,000 annual visitors.
