The 11th annual Acadia Half Marathon and 10K, hosted by the MDI YMCA, takes place amidst the stunning beauty of Acadia National Park and Maine’s rocky coastline. It’s the Maine YMCA’s largest fundraiser of the year.

The event offers participants a chance to experience the park’s breathtaking scenery while supporting the YMCA’s scholarship programs. Mount Desert Island, the park’s location, spans 41,000 acres and showcases an impressive array of mountains, sea, cliffs, and coastline, making it the perfect setting for this unique race.

The half marathon course covers a spectacular 13.1-mile route along the scenic Acadia National Park Loop road, starting and finishing near the park entrance. Runners follow the loop road in a clockwise direction, passing iconic landmarks such as Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, and Otter Cliff. The route presents challenging terrain with varying elevation levels, including a steep ascent to the summit of Cadillac Mountain, the park’s highest peak. From the summit, runners are rewarded with sweeping views of the park and surrounding islands before descending and completing the loop. Throughout the course, participants are treated to stunning views of Acadia National Park’s diverse terrain, including forests, mountains, and rugged coastline. The challenging terrain and breathtaking scenery make the Acadia Half Marathon a memorable and rewarding experience for runners of all levels. Participants are treated to stunning vistas of Acadia’s diverse terrain, including forests, mountains, and rugged coastline, throughout the race. Walkers are also encouraged to join in the experience, enjoying the beauty of Acadia at their own pace. All half marathon and the first 150 10K participants receive a shirt, and all finishers receive a medal. Packet pickup is available at MDI YMCA, and race day regulations include no strollers, dogs, or earbuds/headphones, and the finish line closes at 10:30 am. Refunds or transfers are not permitted.
