Organized both as a fundraiser for the educational programs at nearby Tulsa’s Oklahoma Aquarium and as a way to raise awareness about the importance of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle for local residents, Jenks’s Aquarium Run features distances to suit runners of widely varying abilities.
The race features its 13.1-mile half marathon as well as 10K and 5K runs and the one-mile “fun run” for both runners and walkers. Between 700 and 800 runners cross the finish line each year the half marathon and 5K events, with more than 300 of those participants running in the half-marathon alone.
