Experience the beauty and challenge of the Champlain Islands Marathon & Half Marathon, where runners converge to test their endurance against the stunning backdrop of South Hero and Grand Isle. Starting promptly at 8:30 AM in front of the historic Folsom Elementary School, participants will embark on a journey through picturesque landscapes once frequented by Clarence H. DeMar, a legendary seven-time Boston Marathon Winner.
Both the marathon and half-marathon courses are certified (VT15301JK*) and promise a mix of flat and rolling terrain, offering a delightful blend of farms, apple orchards, and quaint summer cottages along the west shore of South Hero and Grand Isle. The entire route is paved, ensuring a smooth and scenic running experience.
For marathon participants, the course consists of two out-and-backs of the half-marathon route, allowing for double the challenge and double the beauty. With a time cut off of 6 hours for the marathon and 4 hours for the half-marathon, runners are encouraged to push their limits while taking in the breathtaking vistas that define this iconic event.
*Although the certification is listed under the old race name, it remains applicable to the new name as the course remains unchanged, ensuring runners of an authentic and certified racing experience.
