Part of a series of running, cycling and triathlon events staged throughout the year in the Sacramento and Folsom Lake area by Roseville, Calif.-based race management company TBF Racing, the Lost Trail Half Marathon Challenge takes runners and walkers on a looping route through Folsom Lake State Park along the lake’s western shore.
Just over 210 runners and walkers crossed the finish line in the race’s 13.1-mile and 5K events at the 2018 race, 115 of which took part in the half marathon — which, like the 5K, follows an out-and-back course that starts and finishes on the park’s beach overlooking Granite Bay.
From there, runners first head through the paved parking lot and then onto the trails that take them south along the lake’s shoreline, with small hills in the early miles of the race.
