Super Bowl Sunday is the date and 10:00 AM is the starting time for Colorado Springs’s appropriately titled “Super” Half Marathon and Game Day 5K Run/Walk, which you’ll likely want to bundle up for, as temperatures are likely to be in the 30s or perhaps even the 20s around the start of the race.
Organized by the locally based Pikes Peak Road Runners club, the race is set to take runners on an out-and-back course that runs mostly along the Monument Valley Trail along Monument Creek through the city’s downtown, past the campus of Colorado College and the University of Colorado, and through several local parks along the trail.
Runners will gather near Saigon Cafe on Colorado Avenue, just west of Tejon Street, for the race start. From there, the course first heads west along Colorado Avenue for a few blocks until reaching Antlers Park, and there runners turn right to head onto the Monument Valley Trail.
The course keeps runners on the trail for most of the rest of the race, taking them northward all the way to the half-way turnaround point just before reaching Interstate 25, and then back again to Monument Valley Park for the race finish.
