Wilmington NC Marathon Half Marathon 5k 1M &Relay

The first five miles of the course will take you along flat, runner-friendly main roads with one lane dedicated exclusively to our runners. Spectators are encouraged to line the route during this segment, but traffic will continue to flow with only a few minor detours. As you approach mile 6.5, runners will turn onto US 74, offering a change in scenery and a stretch of highway that will feature entertainment stations with a distinct Wilmington flair. This stretch is where you need to get mentally tough because it is 4 miles of straight road which is part of the journey to get downtown Wilmington. Around mile 9, the course takes a slight incline as it rises above the marshland, providing runners with a view of old Wilmington and you can begin to see the downtown buildings . After an elevated stretch, you’ll descend into downtown, passing through Historic Downtown Wilmington, and finally, reaching the River Front finish for the half marathon.
